My name is Dena Welsh and I smoked for 20 years. I picked up my first cigarette at the age of 12. It’s amazing as you get older, you start to see how cigarettes are the center of your world. They literally start controlling and dictating every aspect of your life.
On June 25, 2010, my Mamaw was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. She smoked for 60 years, and in the end…cigarettes stole her life.
My mother who was a 40 year – 3 pack a day smoker, was slowly killing herself. She was diagnosed with asthma, emphysema, and COPD well over a decade ago. She was using 4 different inhalers, and regular breathing treatments just to breathe.
My mother and I promised each other after the holidays, our first Thanksgiving and Christmas without Mamaw, we would lay the cigarettes down. Needless to say, we didn’t! Not that year or the next and neither the year after.
My mom had lost her voice for 36 days while smoking cigarettes. After preparing to hear the words she had throat cancer, the specialist told her she didn’t. I convinced my mother to try her E-cigarette for just 24 hours. I begged her just to try. She did…and she has never looked back!
I can now say, I’m over 4 months cigarette free and my mother is 3 months cigarettes free. We have the wonderful technology of e-cigarettes to thank! They give us the oral fixation and the hand-eye appeasement that we need, without the 1000′s of chemicals that come with cigarettes.
Myself and my partner, Pat O’Neill have faith, that if my mother and my myself can give up cigarettes, you can too! Allow us the opportunity to help change your life, as we changed ours!
